Introduction
There are various scholarship opportunities available to fund your travel, accommodation, and/or registration fees to attend the 5th SSEA. In this page, we list the details of the different scholarship opportunities that we are aware of, and the application procedures.
We are currently able to offer SSEA Scholarships thanks to our Main and Gold Sponsors. Additionally, the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) also offer scholarships. Please note that while the SSEA and the ESA scholarship deadlines and application forms are the same, the CSA scholarships are handled independently. Currently, at least 26 scholarships are offered through the various opportunities.
For the SSEA and ESA scholarships:
- The application form will be common.
- The application will open after the notification of abstract selection (22nd of December 2026).
- The application deadline is the 22nd of January, 2026.
- Selected candidates will be notified before the 22nd of February, 2026.
For the CSA scholarships, the application process is independent, and the deadline is different (3rd of February, 2026). Please refer to the information below for the application details.
SSEA Scholarships
Thanks to our Main and Gold Sponsors, the SSEA will be able to award 6 scholarships. With our scholarship nominations, we aim to support the best and brightest young academics and researchers. The qualities expected of the applicants are:

- Excellent academic performance and research
- Excellence in teaching and communication of scientific and technical concepts
- Engagement and contribution to the academic community and greater society
- Professional and respectful communication
To foster a diverse environment, we wish to support applicants of all nationalities and ethnical backgrounds. We especially invite females and members of minority groups to apply. Further, we recognize that not all students have the same opportunities due to their personal history and therefore also aim to give special consideration to those who have achieved academic excellence while facing additional difficulties.
Academic integrity is expected as given. In case of academic dishonesty, we reserve the right to withdraw scholarship support or demand previously paid out support to be returned.
European Space Agency (ESA) Scholarships
The ESA Education Office is pleased to sponsor up to 20 tertiary education students to attend the 5th Symposium on Space Educational Activities in the frame of the ESA Academy Conference Student Sponsorship programme. The sponsorship will cover the early bird student registration fees and provide a maximum reimbursement of EUR 350 towards travel and EUR 300 towards accommodation expenses (4 nights), which will be reimbursed via a single bank transfer after the event and upon submission of receipts.

To be eligible for an ESA Academy Student Sponsorship, students must fulfil the following criteria at the time of application:
- individually present an accepted contribution at the conference (oral presentation, poster, other).
- be minimum 18 years old at the time of the conference;
- be a citizen of an ESA Member State, Associate Member, or Canada;
- be enrolled as a student (Bsc, Msc, or Ph.D.) in a tertiary education academic programme (not graduating before the Conference);
- not benefit from an overlapping financial support to attend this conference, unless duly justified;
- agree with the conditions of the ESA Academy’s Privacy Policy
Priority will be given to students who have less than 2 years of professional experience and have never taken part in an activity sponsored by the ESA Education Office.
ESA is committed to achieving diversity and creating an inclusive environment. To this end, applications from all eligible candidates irrespective of gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, beliefs, age, disability, social origin or other characteristics are welcome.
Canadian Space Agency (CSA) Travel Grant
The CSA is pleased to offer grants to Canadian postsecondary students to attend the 5th Symposium on Space Educational Activities (SSEA) under their Announcement of Opportunity (AO) to support Canadian Student Participation in Space Conferences and Training Events. A maximum of $5,000 CAD could be awarded to cover the grant recipient’s accommodations and meal allowances, SSEA registration fees, and travel expenses.

To be eligible for a grant under this AO, applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident;
- be enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution at the college, undergraduate, master’s or doctoral levels at the time of the event.
- have not received a European Space Agency (ESA) or Technical University of Munich (TUM) scholarship to attend SSEA.
Although not an eligibility requirement, priority may be given to students who have been selected by the SSEA organizing committee to give a presentation (oral or poster) during the event. Priority may also be given to applicants from underrepresented populations. The CSA therefore encourages applicants to indicate, on a voluntary basis, if they belong to one or more of the four following groups: women, Indigenous Peoples, persons with disabilities and members of visible minorities.
Instructions on how to submit an application can be found in Section 4 of the AO. Please read these instructions carefully and submit your application to the CSA no later than February 3rd, 2026 at 1:00 PM (EST).
