TUM Department of Aerospace and Geodesy
Willy-Messerschmitt-Strasse 5
82024 Taufkirchen

The TUM has been building the new department of Aerospace and Geodesy (ASG) since 2019, with its main Campus in Ottobrunn/Taufkirchen, in the south of Munich. This new location provides the right ecosystem, hosting major industry leaders like Airbus, ArianeGroup, and Isar Aerospace, creating an optimal environment for education and industry cooperation.

Starting in the winter semester 2025, a new facility with multiple lecture halls, ranging in capacity from small rooms to a large room with up to 600 students, will be available in the ASG department. The building will feature more than ten rooms, equipped with state-of-the-art technology to support multimedia presentations for audiences of various sizes.

Further information regarding the venue will be provided before the symposium.

Nearby points of interest

A handful of points of interest can be reached on a short walk from the venue of the 5th SSEA. Attendees can thus easily disconnect from the Symposium with opportunities to explore the local aerospace environment, try out new intense experiences, or just relax with a swim or a walk in nature.

These points of interest include, among others, the Ludwig Bölkow Campus, where Airbus Defence and Space and other space companies are located; the Phönix-Bad Ottobrunn swimming pool and sauna, for which daily tickets are available; the Jochen Schweizer Arena, which features a series of intense sport-related experiences such as indoor skydiving and surfing; and a couple of green areas and parks in the vicinity.

A 20 min bus drive takes attendees to the train station Ostbahnhof, where a lot of cafés, restaurants and bars can be found, and from where the city centre is reached fast by the S-Bahn.

How to get to the Venue

Reaching the venue is straightforward thanks to Munich’s efficient public transportation network. You can easily navigate the city by using the MVV or MVGo App, available for both Android and iOS devices, which provides real-time information on routes and schedules.

Alternatively, Google Maps can be used for transit planning. For those who prefer private transport, taxis can be booked through the numbers +49 89-21 610 or +49 89-19 410, and Uber is also available via its mobile application.

The venue’s closest public transport stop is Taufkirchen Lilienthalstraße as seen in the picture below, which is well connected by several bus lines.

Bus 210 and 222 operate from Neuperlach Süd, while Bus X200 runs from Ostbahnhof, offering a direct route for those staying in central Munich. Additionally, Buses 214 and 241 connect the venue with the Ottobrunn S-Bahn station, providing further accessibility.

Public transportation tickets are available in various options to suit different travel needs. A single ticket within the downtown area, which includes travel to the symposium venue, costs 4.10€, while a daily ticket allows unlimited travel for 9.70€. An easy swipe system was recently implemented via the MVV and MVGo Apps, where a passenger can swipe a button when entering and leaving a vehicle and the cheapest fare is automatically determined.

Attendees staying for an extended period may find the weekly ticket to be the most cost-effective option. For those arriving from the airport, a one-way ticket is available for 14.30€, ensuring a smooth and direct transfer into the city
